Many employers have an affirmative action obligation arising out of their status as a federal contractor or subcontractor. This obligation attaches where their federal contracts exceed $10,000 in any 12-month period. In addition, where an employer holds a contract in excess of $50,000 and has 50 or more employees, it also incurs the obligation to maintain a written Affirmative Action Plan (AAP) for each of its establishments.
